+ ... Very well located for people coming by car to spend some time in Aigues Mortes and the Camargue generally. Easy to locate and to get to. A pleasant canal-side walk takes you to the walled city in about 5 minutes or so. Our welcome was warm and efficient, and the owners volunteered a lot of helpful information. We were very pleased indeed with the restaurant we chose from amongst their recommendations. Our canal side room was comfortable and quiet (the roadside may not be so, as the road is pretty busy). Breakfast very good, in a spacious and pleasant area. We'd have been happy to stay longer in this hotel; and indeed, in Aigues Mortes.
- ... Provence gets pretty warm, so once again a refrigerator in the room would be a distinct enhancement. |

"Friendly 3 star hotel short walk from Citadel"
friendly hotel next to canal and short walk along canal from Citadel of Aigues Mortes which is a wonderful place with good restaurants and shops and nice atmosphere day and night. Short drive from nice seaside and port of Grau de Roi and the Camargue. Hotel is well run and breakfast although a little expensive is well worth having. Small heated pool with plenty of loungers. Fairly small functional rooms with comfy beds and very suitable for a short break. Plenty of free parking.
Quiet aircon. Very clean room and hotel and well maintained. I would stay there again if in the area. |

"A home away from home"
I've stayed twice in the Hotel Canal and I could not recommend it highly enough. Very simple yet stylish hotel that is absolutely spotless. I love it here as does my boyfriend. Staff are friendly, rooms are lovely and the location is great. I feel so comfortable that I feel like I'm at home when I stay here! Sarah, Ireland . |

"excellent value for money, charming staff, very good breakfast"
hotel Canal is as its name suggests right on a canal outside the fabulous Medieval fortified village of Aigues Mortes - in fact the village is an easy 5 min stroll along the canal . The hotel has a beautiful garden/terrace for breakfast, covered with jasmine and vines, and a humungous palm tree. i arrived early evening and was shown by the very nice owner, Jacques Toullec, to my room, which was smallish as I hadnt booked but just showed up and the hotel was quite full. That said, everything worked very well - WiFi in the room, a/c, good shower. The only slight drawback is the fact that although the hotel backs onto the canal, the front is on quite a busy road, so you should be sure to ask for a room that is not street-facing, otherwise if you don't like a/c like me, but want cool air, you have to sleep with the window slightly ajar so that the excellent sound-proofing becomes ineffective. Breakfasts are delicious - very good pastries, croissants, muffins, bread, all freshly baked by the hotel, fresh (not canned) fruit salad, good coffee and hot milk which is a huge plus. All in all, a charming hotel, well-located , well-run and very good value for money. |

"An exceptional welcome from friendly and very helpful management"
this hotel has a very modern feel to it and is spotlessly clean yet still has a warm and friendly ambience. It is situated a short walk from the old town. The owner spent time recommending places to visit and where to eat. Our room was comfortable and well equipped. The breakfast was good and fresh although a bit dearer than usual. We would go there again and have been enthusiastically recommending it to our friends - it really was first rate!.

"A charming hotel with delightful & very helpful owners."
a great hotel which was easy to find
with on site parking.
Don't be put off by the outside, the inside is contemporary & very comfortable.
A leisurely stroll into the walled town,
so you don't need your car.
In nice weather there is a lovely terrace overlooking the canal, where you can sit
with a glass of wine or coffee.
Delightful owners who could not have been more helpful.
A perfect place to stay & explore the Camargue.

+ ... Very friendly relaxed atmosphere. A modern hotel with unusual decor in the communal areas. Easy parking and good access for both walking into town for restaurants and driving out to visit other areas. Good sellection for breakfast. Staff very helpful.
- ... No shower screen on the bath, made showering difficult. We mentioned this as we left, they said that they would sort it. A mini fridge would have been useful, however they were happy to freeze our cool blocks every evening. Breakfast rather expensive, but nice. A lift would be useful for some people, we were ok. |

"a surprise! absolutely amazing!"
on our honeymoon we had a bad hotel reservation in Provence so we looked on the i-phone in the evening for a hotel somewhere,, hotel canal was the first we so, we called and arrived 2 hours later. we took the mid room but because we were honeymooners the staff gave us the luxury room for the same price. when we woke up in the morning and opened the balcony door we saw the we were right on the beautiful canal , a minute walk from the walls of the beautiful "aguies-mort". it was amazing! everything there is new and clean and beautifully designed. p.s - fantastic breakfast!

"Great, modern, all rounder"
i found this through tripadvisor and all the other reviews and representative. I actually had booked for the wrong night in our tour and they rang me when we were miles away but they sorted it out ok, fortunately as it was the low season they fitted us in the next night - no problem.
It is a 5 minute walk out of town, but is well signposted, with ample off street parking - no need to pay extra for their secured parking in my view.
It is modern and clean, the receptionist was very welcoming and helpful, she showed us to our room.
free wifi, which seems to be commonplace in france - shame it isn't in the UK.
The bathroom was quite meditarranean but the towels were too small which was a shame.
They did show us the way along the canal into town which was good but would have benefitted from all the street lights being working - which shouldn't be too hard to fix.
Flat screen TV with BBC World. bit noisy with the windows open and the aircon seemed to blow out warm air.
Terrace with the pool was lovely, but too cold to go in in October.
One of the guys that works there used to work in England so his english is really good. |

"Wonderful"
lovely little hotel, made very special by its fantastic staff. I've stayed in hotels all over the world from the super expensive & luxurious right down to the 'get-me-out-of-here!' types - but I've never stayed anywhere that has such helpful & friendly staff, they really went above & beyond!
As many other reviews mention - Jacques really knows the area & is very helpful with ideas of where to go, where to eat etc..
But everyone there - right down to the cleaners - is polite & friendly, and seems committed to making your stay enjoyable.
The hotel itself is on a rather ugly road, but the hotel is well-placed for Aigues-Mortes. Everything inside is simply stylish and spotlessly clean, and the breakfasts are fantastic.
Only (minor) criticism would be - I would've liked a shower curtain.

"The hotel is wonderful - but the owners make it perfect!"
stayed here for two blissful nights, and i only wish it'd been longer.
The hotel itself is lovely - simple, cool and stylish, with a lovely shady terrace next to the canal; the rooms are exactly as they look from the hotel's website (now there's an idea that a few others could do with trying!), beds are large (i think king size, but certainly larger than a standard double), airconditioning is efficient and hugely welcome on a 35 degree + day, and the breakfasts are indeed delicious, due to the in-house pastry chef making a different type of muffin and other pastries each day.
But, what really makes this place stand out, possibly above anywhere else i've been, is the fantastic management. Jacques spent a good 15 minutes with us at checkin, showing us the layout of the town on a map, and recommending various restaurants- we ate about half a bull between us at Coco over a couple of days, and had a lovely evening meal at L'Eden also - and other things to do. He and his colleagues we incredibly helpful in making bookings (the best private beach club as well as restaurants) to ensure that we really got the most out of our limited time there.
The general air of calm and consideration also seemed to rub off on the guests- discussions around the pool and at breakfast were kept to a quiet murmur at all times, keeping the place a real oasis of peace. All in all, i can't imagine a nicer place to spend a short (or long) break, and we very much hope to return.

"Wonderful breakfasts..."
we visited this beautiful area to attend a wedding and this hotel was among those suggested to us.
We really enjoyed our visit to Aigues Mortes.
This stay was undoubtedly helped by the welcome and comfort of this hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and there were no language difficulties. There was always somebody there to suggest places to go and see.
The standard of the rooms was excellent. The beds were really comfortable.
And the breakfasts mmmm the breakfasts were wonderful.
Thank you Jaques and staff for an enjoyable stay. |

+ ... We loved the helpfulness of the staff who booked the evening restaurant for us. Breakfast was excellent and at a reasonable price. The hotel is well situated within walking distance of the medieval city along a picturesque track beside the canal. Room was large and airy with a door onto the terrace around the swimming pool. We'd love to come back some day for a longer stay!
- ... The shower water pressure was not very good and made it difficult to wash my long hair... Not a very big problem admittedly! |

"Great hotel, great price"
this was a really good find. It's not within the walls of Aigues Mortes - but don't let that deter you as it's only a 5 minute walk along the (pretty) canal.
The rooms are very modern - clean and very well finished. Ours wasn't huge, but had everything we needed for an overnight stay.
The owners are just fantastic - friendly and really helpful. They go a long way towards making this hotel a great place to stay.
Finally - the price. If you look within the walls, you are not going to get anything decent for less than €140. Even then, it's not going to be great. Our room, with access to the terrace was €80. And it was much better than what we saw in the town.
So in short, I would recommend a stay at the Hotel Canal!s. |

"Found what we've been looking for"
We've liked Aigues-Mortes for years but have struggled to find the ideal hotel. Although Hotel Canal is a few hundred yards outside the walls ( a pleasant five minutes stroll along the canal) this means it has its own car park - none of the hassle of barriers, garages, etc in the town.
The hotel is excellent too - room was fine, with a big comfortable bed and a balcony overlooking the canal. Our reception was extremely friendly, with lots of information and very good restaurant recommendations.
And the highpoint was the breakfast - a large variety of pastries, muffins and breads freshly baked in-house every morning by the hotel's own pastry chef - eaten outside on the terrace - superb. We'll be back again soon. |

The location is very handy to walk into Aigues Mort were you will find great restaraunts within the stunning castle walls
The rooms on the Canal side are a delight to wake up and look out of....
The service & helpfulness of all the Hotel Canal team was a credit to them all.

"Contempory and Excellent"
this is a fine hotel and handicapped accessible. The owners easily accommodated my needs after spraining my ankle a few days earlier. The rooms are just right in size with all the amenities one needs: comfortable bed, space for two opened suitcases, good shower, decent light for reading in bed, and free wi-fi. The design and decor of the room gave a feeling of spaciousness.
Breakfast was sumptuous and the staff very helpful. The location is just right.
We plan to return to the Camargue.

"Great location, great value"
this is a modern, comfortable, no-frills hotel a short walk from the old town. Since we were traveling with lots of flotsam and jetsam inside the car we much appreciated the inside parking (10 euro extra, well worth it, though there was plenty of free parking outside in a gated area). The staff were extremely helpful, recommending nearby restaurants and activities. Breakfast was also excellent. Since we were only driving a short distance the next day, we asked if it would be OK to leave the car in the garage for a few hours after the noon checkout while we visited the town. No problem! Again, very much appreciated. Definitely a candidate for a return stay.

very comfortable room overlooking the canal. Nice and quiet at the back of the hotel with easy walk along the canal into Aigues Mortes. "3* HOTEL - 5* QUALITY"
its probably the best hotel I`ve stayed in. in terms of service the staff couldn't be more friendly and eager to help, nothing appears to be too much for them. i had a problem on arrival with battery of notebook and they phoned around to find someone in the area who sold a new one.
The hotel is very modern and obviously well cared for. The rooms are petite but well equipped and very clean. it is very quiet, even though the hotel was fully booked at the time, i never heard anyone in the hall. Had plenty of sockets for pcs, chargers etc which is unusual. Good bathroom accessories. ...Only bad point - the dreaded leaking shower which follows me from hotel to hotel....only this time it was because there was no shower screen or curtain to keep the water in!
I´m sure that i will return to this hotel many times again in the future! |

"Good value hotel in Aigues-Mortes"
this hotel is about 5 minutes walk outside
the town and is situated on the banks
of a canal. I spent two nights at the hotel
and had a large quiet room overlooking
the canal and had a small balcony.
The buffet breakfast was excellent
and the hotel provided free internet connection.
The hotel is privately owned and the owners are clear that they are not in the accomodation business but rather in the hospitality business.
All the staff were EXTREMELY helpful.

"Very high standard"
this hotel is run to a standard that other hotels should strive for. Well signposted and a very pleasant welcome. We were offered a room on the first floor overlooking the canal but could have chosen one on the ground floor if it was a problem carrying our cases up the stairs. Plentry of room in our bedroom and it was very clean and tidy. We were shown how to walk to the town up the canal and given advice about the restaurants. The only noise in our room was from the ducks on the canal.
Breakfast was very good with a large choice and high quality. I only wish that we could have stayed for more than one night. |

"Enjoyable stay"
first impression was immediately good after contacting the hotel direct by email to check on availability. Even before we arrived Jacques was giving us helpful tips. The arrival at the hotel was not a disappointment, we were greeted by a lovely lady, sorry but cannot remember her name, who took us through the hotels facilities and surrounding area, she even apologised for her english (which was near on perfect). Everything to follow went like a dream, with each member of the team very happy to assist us with any questions we had. The room was perfect for 3 people, two adults and a 12 year old, and spotless. Being able to return during the afternoon after a busy morning sightseeing etc. to relax around the pool was lovely. Breakfast was delicious and a ten minute walk from the hotel along the canal took you into Aigues-Mortes where there is no end of choice for an evening meal. We really enjoyed our stay and would certainly be checking in here again if we should ever return to the area.

"A great find!"
we have just returned from a weeks stay at Hotel Canal. Do not be put off by the less-than-attractive approach from the main road into Aigues-
Mortes. Inside is an oasis of designer calm with cool, comfortable rooms, a shady terrace for delicious breakfasts and a small pool. Rooms overlooking the canal are well worth the extra...ours had a balcony, perfect for watching the boats. The staff are fantastic...charming and helpful, full of suggestions on what to do and where to eat. Aigues-
Mortes is 5 minutes walk along the towpath with a grest choice if restaurants and bars.
